Every month egg is released from the ovary and at the same time, the uterus prepares itself to receive the fertilized egg. The inner lining of the uterus thickens and blood is supplied to nourish the embryo. When the egg is not fertilized, the lining of the uterus slowly breaks down and gets released in the form of blood and mucus from the vagina.

What are the different methods of contraception?

Copper-T: Copper-T is a contraceptive device that is placed in uterus to prevent pregnancy. Surgical methods can also be used to stop the gamete transfer.

Natural Method: Natural method involves avoiding the chances of meeting of sperms and ovum. In this method, sexual act is avoided when ovulation is expected usually from day 10th to 17th of the menstrual cycle because during this period chances of fertilization are very high.

 

Oral contraceptives: Oral contraceptives contain small doses of hormones taken in the form of tablets or drugs orally that prevent the release of eggs to avoid fertilization. 

 

Condoms: Condoms are like barrier that prevent sperms from entering into vagina. Condoms are made of thin latex and are available for both males and females. It is used for cover penis in males and vagina in females.
