Mother’s body is the home of embryo, during the first nine month of its development. The outer tissue surrounding the embryo develops into finger like projections known as Villi. These Villi surrounded by uterine tissue and maternal blood, provide a large surface area for the exchange of nutrients and oxygen. The embryo receives the nutrients and blood through a special tissue called Placenta, which is connected to the Uterine wall. The waste material produced by the embryo is also removed through the Placenta.
