Class: X
Exercise number 1
Question 1
What is the importance of DNA copying in reproduction?
Answer 1
DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid) carries the basic genetic characteristics from parents to the offspring. DNA also contains proteins which control all the functions and structure of an individual. DNA copying is very important during reproduction or else the characteristics of genes will not be carried from one generation to the next and offspring will be entirely different from parents.
Question 2
Why is variation beneficial to the species but not necessarily for the individual?
