Why did the king want to know answers to three questions?

Answer1

The king thought that he would never fail if he knew the answers to the three questions that’s why he wanted to know them.

Question 1

Why was the king advised to go to magicians?

Answer 1

The king was advised to go the magicians because only magicians could predict the future and it was necessary for the king to look into the future in order to decide the right time for doing something.

 

Question 2

In answer to the second question, whose advice did the people say would be important to the king?

Answer 2

The second question also got various responses as some people said that councilors are most necessary and their advice would be the most important for the king. Other people said that for the king, priests were the most important. A few others chose the doctors and yet others said that his soldiers were the most important. 

 

Question 3 

What suggestions were made in answer to the third question?

Answer 3

The third question also got various responses as some said science is the most important thing, others said fighting and some other chose religious worship as the most important thing.

 

Question 4 

Did the wise men win the reward? If not, why not?

Answer 4

No, the wise men did not win the reward because the king was not satisfied with the answers he got as they were very different to his questions and therefore, he decided to give the award to no one.

 

Question 5

How did the king and the hermit help the wounded man?

Answer 5

When the king and the hermit saw a man with a large wound on his stomach, the king helped him by washing his wound and covering it with his handkerchief. Since the blood was flowing continuously, he re-dressed the wound until it stopped bleeding. He gave fresh water to the wounded man when he felt a bit better. Then, the king took help of the hermit and took the wounded man into the hut and laid him on the bed.

(i) Who was the bearded man?
(ii) Why did he ask for the king’s forgiveness?


Answer 6

(i) The bearded man was the enemy of the king because the king had put the man’s brother to death. He had also laid his hands on his property that’s why the man wanted to take revenge from the king.
(ii) He asked for the king’s forgiveness because he saved his life. When he came, his intentions were to kill the king. He was recognized by the king’s bodyguard when he left his hiding place and was wounded by him. He managed to escape but if the king had not taken care of him and dressed his wounds, he would have died. Ironically, he was saved by the person whose life he wanted to take.

 

Question 7 

The king forgave the bearded man. What did he do to show his forgiveness?

Answer 7

The king forgave the bearded man and to show his forgiveness, he told him that he would send his servants and his own doctor to look after him. He also made a promise to return the man his property.

 

Question 8 

What was the hermit’s Answers to the three Questions? Write each Answer separately. Which Answer do you like most, and why?

Answer 8

The hermit answered the first question by saying that there is only one time that is important and that time is ‘Now’ and it is the only time when one has any power to act. He answered the second question as the person you are with at the particular moment is the most important person and this is because no one knows what will happen in the future and whether we will meet anyone else or not. The answer for the third question was being good with the person one is with, is the most important thing. This is because all are sent into this world for the same purpose only.
